Born in San Francisco, California, Geraldine Kovats received her first pair of eyeglasses just before the age of two, and promptly became interested in all things visual.

Geraldine holds a BFA with distinction from San Francisco's Academy of Art. While in her final year of study, she accepted a Walt Disney Feature Animation internship that led to a decade-long professional career in the animation industry. She worked in multi-media and film in a variety of roles, most notably for Disney as a background artist on the following feature films: Mulan, Tarzan, John Henry, Lilo & Stitch and Brother Bear. During this time, Geraldine maintained a body of autobiographical work, but desiring to commit herself more fully to her own art, she respectfully left the industry in 2002. She spent the next few years traveling and painting in Mexico, Argentina and Chile. Her work has been shown in a number of venues and periodicals such as the Orlando Museum of Art, Newsweek, USA Today and Sotheby's.

The subjects of Geraldine's paintings are familiar ones. Primarily a draftsman, she begins a composition by drawing its contours in paint and works only from life while her subject and lighting conditions last.

Currently, Geraldine lives, paints and teaches art in the Seattle area.
